📋 7 Days lemosho Route – Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary

🗓️ Day 1: Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp

  • Elevation: 2,100m to 2,650m

  • Distance: 6 km

  • Hiking Time: 3–4 hours

  • Habitat: Montane Forest
    Begin with registration at Londorossi Gate, then hike through the forest to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp. Look out for black-and-white colobus monkeys.

🗓️ Day 2: Mti Mkubwa – Shira 1 Camp

  • Elevation: 2,650m to 3,610m

  • Distance: 8 km

  • Hiking Time: 5–6 hours

  • Habitat: Moorland
    Ascend steeply through the forest and enter the moorland zone with fantastic views of the Shira Plateau.

  • Elevation: 3,610m to 3,850m

  • Distance: 7 km

    Climb to Lava Tower for high-altitude exposure, then descend to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” day is vital for acclimatization.

    Climb the thrilling Barranco Wall, then descend into the Karanga Valley. This day includes some steep sections with incredible views.

  • Distance: 4 km

  • Hiking Time: 3–4 hours

  • Habitat: Alpine Desert
    Hike to Barafu Camp, where you’ll rest before the midnight summit attempt. Early dinner and an early bedtime are essential.

🗓️ Day 7: Barafu – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp

  • Elevation: 4,673m to 5,895m (Uhuru), then down to 3,110m

  • Distance: 17 km

  • Hiking Time: 12–15 hours

  • Habitat: Arctic at the summit, then rainforest
    Start your summit push around midnight. Reach Stella Point at sunrise and continue to Uhuru Peak – the highest point in Africa! Descend to Mweka Camp.

🗓️ Day 8: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate

  • Elevation: 3,110m to 1,640m

  • Distance: 10 km

  • Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
    Trek down through the forest to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi for rest and celebration.
