🗓️ Day 1: Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp
Elevation: 2,100m to 2,650m
Distance: 6 km
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Habitat: Montane Forest
Begin with registration at Londorossi Gate, then hike through the forest to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp. Look out for black-and-white colobus monkeys.
🗓️ Day 2: Mti Mkubwa – Shira 1 Camp
Elevation: 2,650m to 3,610m
Distance: 8 km
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Habitat: Moorland
Ascend steeply through the forest and enter the moorland zone with fantastic views of the Shira Plateau.
🗓️ Day 3: Shira 1 – Shira 2 Camp
Elevation: 3,610m to 3,850m
Distance: 7 km
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

A gentle trek across the Shira Plateau allows time to acclimate and enjoy vast, open landscapes.
🗓️ Day 4: Shira 2 – Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
Elevation: 3,850m to 4,600m (Lava Tower), down to 3,960m

Climb to Lava Tower for high-altitude exposure, then descend to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” day is vital for acclimatization.

Elevation: 4,673m to 5,895m (Uhuru), then down to 3,110m
Distance: 17 km
Hiking Time: 12–15 hours
Habitat: Arctic at the summit, then rainforest
Start your summit push around midnight. Reach Stella Point at sunrise and continue to Uhuru Peak – the highest point in Africa! Descend to Mweka Camp.
